About Kara
Kara Pattison has built a career in cultivating brands, creating trends and is an innovation led designer. With almost twenty years of fashion design under her belt, Kara Pattison is able to translate her creative vision into tangible, commercial and image driving fashion. Her technical knowledge matched with her creative edge has led her to incredible global brands and has made her poised for new challenges in the space.
Pattison has been a part of and has led successful design teams at Helmut Lang, Victoria Secret, Victoria Secret PINK, Fila, Soma, and Venus. Her technical design savvy and vast knowledge of fabrication, production and color paired with her innate understanding of culture, the consumer and what drives purchase made her a force in the design space. A constant learner and explorer, Pattison’s curiosity led to her discovery of new trends which helped inspire her design work. Designing the relaunch of the Vanishing Back Bra for Soma, the launch of the collegiate collection for Victoria’s Secret PINK, the VS PINK swim collection, and the launch of the Sports Illustrated swimwear line, are among many of her accomplishments. Earning her way to the Victoria’s Secret runway, Helmut Lang runway, and featured garments in Saks 5th Ave.
A graduate of The Savannah College of Art and Design and under the mentorship of Marc Jacobs and Andre Leon Talley, Kara’s education matched with real world hands-on design leadership has made her a wholistic designer – attune to todays and tomorrow’s trends while respecting the vintage fashions. New York native, Kara has always had a deep love for design. In high school interning with an Italian trained tailor, and even before that collecting textiles and sketching her designs.
Kara has been an advocate and educator in the industry. As a guest collaborator at the Savannah College of Art and Design and a guest lecturer to the University of Virginia, Kara has worked to tutor and mentor men and women in fashion.
